What We’re About
“Connecting neighbors through Community Service, Events, and Gardening”
Windflowers of Roxborough Park
Is for Roxborough residents who share a love of our unique environment, enjoy learning, socializing, making new friends, and giving back.
We are an independent, self-supporting organization that relies on membership dues for community service events and social programs.
As a Windflowers member, you can be involved as much or as little as you like, but you can also just sit back and know that your dues are working hard to make our community stronger and more beautiful.
In Greek mythology, the windflower is said to have sprung from the tears of Aphrodite, the goddess of love, as she mourned the death of her beloved Adonis. Her sorrow gave birth to the delicate bloom, which became a symbol of fleeting beauty and the fragility of life.
The name "anemone" comes from the Greek word anemos, meaning "wind." According to legend, the flower opens only when the wind blows, earning it the name "windflower." It has long been associated with themes of love, loss, and the changing seasons.
The windflower is a symbol of the beauty in growth, the power of resilience, and the cycles of renewal that unite us through nature and community
